SR 202/NE 124th Street Intersection Improvements

Description: Improvements to this intersection will add two additional through lanes to the east leg of the intersection. The left-turn lane for westbound NE 124th Street to southbound SR 202 will be lengthened to provide more storage and reduce the backups. Curb, gutter, planter strip, sidewalk and bike lanes will be placed along the eastern leg. A second left-turn lane will be added on the south leg of SR 202 to westbound NE 124th Street. Traffic signal modifications will be made to accommodate the revised channelization.

Traffic Impacts: Expect traffic impacts and delays between the hours of 9am to 3:30pm. The contractor may take one lane only on SR202 and NE 124th during these times. At that time the signal will be in flash and traffic will be controlled by a police officer.

NE 116th Corridor Improvements
Location: NE 116th Street between 169th Court NE to 172nd Avenue NE

Description: The goal of this project is to upgrade the existing profile of NE 116th Street between 169th Avenue NE and 172nd Avenue NE to meet site distance and safety standards along that portion of NE 116th Street at the apex of the hill fronting the site of Fire Station #17.

Traffic Impacts: NE 116th between 167th Place NE and 172nd Avenue NE will be closed to through traffic beginning June 22 and it is anticipated to remain closed until early September 2010. Access for emergency vehicles and to properties in the construction zone will be maintained. For travel around the construction zone please view the Detour Plan (pdf on website). Expect delays due to traffic impacts.

161st Ave NE Extension
Location: 161st Avenue NE Extension from Bear Creek Parkway to Redmond Way

Description: Extending 161st Avenue NE from the new Bear Creek Parkway north to Redmond Way will complete the connection of 161st through downtown. This will add an additional north/south connection in Redmond’s downtown, thereby providing more choices for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.

New traffic signals will be installed at the Bear Creek Parkway/161st intersection and at the Cleveland St/161st intersection. The traffic signal at Redmond Way/161st will be revised to accommodate the new 161st street extension. Sidewalk and bicycle connections will be installed along the new corridor and utility infrastructure such as water, stormwater and street lighting will be added.

The project is currently in design. At this time, construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2010 and continue through fall 2011. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
